Parents do everything they can to make sure their kids have the best life. We want to make sure our children have everything we didn’t have and grow into responsible, kind adults. Parents make dozens of decisions every day. Many of those decisions feel like they might have substantial impacts on their futures.
What should they eat? What should they wear? How much should we put in college savings? What sports should they play? The list of questions we have to answer is endless. One of the biggest concerns we have is figuring out how to keep them safe.
Whether it’s fall, winter, spring, or summer break, it can seem like a chore to get back into the school groove. Summer may be especially tough because of the longer amount of time a student has out of the regular school routine.
It’s always nice to have a break, or a vacation, where there are few responsibilities, and you can relax. Your child can still enjoy all of that while also setting themselves up for success when it comes to having to return back to school.
Statistics have shown that over summer vacation, many students lose a bit of what they have learned throughout the year. Reading tends to be at the top of that list.
We want our students, your children, to be able to retain what they’ve learned, but we also want the kids to have fun and enjoy their summer. So how can we balance both of those things?
Between the media and society, there are so many authoritarian figures telling us what to think. There are times when people that society deems important present us with facts and things that encourage what we should think, and then there are times that they don’t.
We want children to be able to respect leaders and those in authority, but we also want them to be able to know how to think for themselves - not just because someone told them what to think.
The life science classes recently learned about amphibians. After discussing the classification, habitats, and body systems the classes were able to dissect a frog to get a better understanding of their anatomy.

Do you remember when you were in school? Did you find it hard to get motivated to go back to school after winter break? After you had given it your all through the fall semester and you couldn’t even think about entering into the spring semester.
Your brain had met its limit, and any information given to you felt like it was going in one ear and out the other. We want to help your child avoid getting to this point. We want to help them avoid that second-semester burnout.
However, if they have gotten to the point of feeling like they can’t take on any more school work, it is important to help them take some time to rest and reset. Help them reduce their extracurricular participation, drink plenty of water, make sure they are nourishing their bodies, and get plenty of sleep.
In this article, we are providing five tips for helping students avoid burnout and excel during the second semester.
The Crenshaw Academy held a Winter Festival for students in grades K-12 January 28, 2022, sponsored by Student Council. Teachers were pied in the face and we brought in a huge bubble machine that the elementary students loved. Most students got airbrushed tattoos and jumped in the bounce house.
In addition to the games, we gave away multiple homework and lunch passes, a $25 gift card to Target, a Google Home device, and a $25 gift card to Amazon.
Seniors won a pizza party at the Faculty vs. Seniors obstacle course race, 4-0. The DJ had students playing musical chairs and dancing the cha cha slide.
