Flexible Enrollment

Some students have lives that don't fit neatly into a traditional school schedule. Elite athletes, performers, competitive travelers – students whose talent and drive take them places that most school calendars simply can't accommodate. At The Crenshaw Academy, we have been serving these students for decades through our Professional Program: a flexible enrollment path that keeps academic standards fully intact while making room for the demands of an extraordinary life.

This is not a new idea for us. It is where we started.

Flexible enrollment at The Crenshaw Academy

The Story Behind the Program

The Professional Program traces its origins to the earliest days of The Crenshaw Academy's founding philosophy. Brenda Crenshaw developed her approach to flexible, individualized education while working as a private instructor to Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass: two students whose demanding professional lives required a school that could meet them on their terms without sacrificing rigor. From that experience, Brenda recognized a broader need: students with non-traditional schedules deserved access to a full, accredited, college preparatory education. The Professional Program was her answer.

Decades later, that same commitment shapes how we serve students today.

How It Works

Students in the Professional Program attend The Crenshaw Academy just like full-time students. The difference is in the flexibility built around their schedule, not in the quality or rigor of their education.

Here is how the program operates in practice:

Standard Attendance

Students come to school as normal and communicate directly with their teachers when they need to miss class.

Make-Up Work

When absences are required, missed coursework is completed through Florida Virtual School (FLVS), ensuring no gaps in learning.

Academic Credit for Outside Activities

Students receive academic credit for their pursuits. Competitive golfers, for example, earn two credits per year: one for their sport and one for weight training.

Mid-Year Flexibility

Families can flex between full-time and flexible enrollment at any point during the year as schedules change. A student who competes in a seasonal sport can attend full-time during the off-season and shift to a flexible schedule when competition demands it.

Attendance Tracking

Attendance is tracked exactly the same as for full-time students, meeting all state and accreditation requirements.

Full School Participation

Professional Program students are fully eligible for sports, clubs, social events, and graduation alongside their peers.

Same Tuition

There is no separate tuition structure for the Professional Program. Families pay the same rate as traditional enrollment.
